Oyinlola approached us because he wanted to propose to his girlfriend of three years, Yemisi. He didn't know how he wanted to do it, all he knew is that he wanted to give Yemisi the shock of her life before he proposed, and boy did he manage to achieve that! We knew Oyin was up for something outrageous so we set to work to create a proposal for him that was just that! We even combined forces with Bookatable to create, in the words of the Daily Mail, the BEST FLASHMOB PROPOSAL EVER!
To keep the proposal a surprise we needed a way to keep Yemisi distracted so that she wouldn't wonder where Oyin was. We asked two of her friends to help us out and pretend to take her out for dinner on the night of the proposal. To make the proposal even more spectacular, we enlisted the help of Event Theatre and 15 of their amazing singers to perform a brilliant rendition of Marvin Gaye's Motown hit, 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', whilst Oyin pretended to be a waiter. We decided that the only way for Oyin to shock Yemisi in the way he wanted was by giving him a complete makeover. He absolutely loved the idea so we began the search for a make up artist who would be able to transform him into someone unrecognisable to Yemisi.
Next we had to find the perfect restaurant for Oyin to propose at. That's where Bookatable came in. They found the fantastic Gillray's Steakhouse in Waterloo. The restaurant has incredible views overlooking iconic London landmarks such as the London Eye and The Houses of Parliament, and it made the ideal setting for a proposal.

When Yemisi and her friends arrived they were taken to their table, and that's when the real fun began. Oyin, who was now in character, came over to the table to fill up the group's glasses with water. However, he accidentally missed Yemisi's glass, which resulted in, we kid you not, a jug of ICE COLD water being poured onto her lap! We think it's safe to say that she wasn't happy in the slightest, especially when the waiter made a speedy exit!
As the manager was apologising to Yemisi, one of the diners stood up and started to play the guitar. To Yemisi's astonishment the manager burst out into song, followed one by one, by other diners around the restaurant until they were all singing, 'Ain't no mountain high enough.' Unbelievably, as the song finished Yemisi still had no idea that the performance was all for her so when another song began and the waiter who had spilt the water on her came out dancing, she was still none the wiser that it was actually Oyinlola in disguise. That is until he whipped off his wig mid-song to reveal his true identity!
Yemisi was so happy that she began crying as Oyinlola took her hand and began dancing with her to the music. As the song died away he got down on one knee and asked her those four little words every little girl dreams of hearing, 'Will you marry me.'
Of course she said yes!
Congratulations to the happy couple. We wish you all the best in the future!
