Is Valentine's Day a thing of the past? We were asked this recently on air with the BBC and so we thought we should ask our team for their thoughts.

Valentines, Galentines or spending the day happily alone - As the leading proposal planning company in the UK we get to experience love all year round, in so many ways, and it goes without saying that we LOVE St. Valentines and we think its here to stay!

However you celebrate - it’s a time to actively show your appreciation for those around you. Let’s just say, if we could force this upon the nation everyday of the year we would.

We’ve been in the romantic event industry for over ten years now. From incredible date nights to unbelievable proposals - we’ve seen it all! A marriage proposal is magical at any time of year, but February is understandably a busy month for us. We do not see a decline in celebrations or proposals. If anything we are noticing a trend of them getting bigger and bigger!

However, we do understand that some may want to keep the moment intimate and that's perfect as well.

What is important is celebrating that feeling of love with those closest to you!

For some that may be a night in with their closest girls and boys, for others it may be just enjoying their me-time. We realise that love comes in so many different forms and you don’t need to spend it with a significant other.

We asked our team of Proposal Planners how they would spend their ideal Valentines Day, a diverse mixture of individuals who are single, married and taken, to see if they personally celebrate it.

Daisy - Founder

‘Ahh Valentines. Ideally a day without the kids! At The Proposers we’ve organised some amazing dates at Hotel Cafe Royal and Four Seasons Park Lane and I want to experience one of these days for myself. I would want my husband to take the event planner role for the day and make sure we’ve got the champagne on ice, the spa treatments booked and the phones out of reach. As the owner of The Proposers, a business that is all about love, it would be rude not to celebrate the big day!’

Tom - Photographer

‘Waking up to coffee and warm pastries, a lazy day on the sofa with my husband before heading to a nice restaurant for negronis and good food. - And if I don’t get that this year I will be livid!’

Anat - International Proposal Planner

‘I’m on the first train to Paris with my husband, blue skies and frost on the ground. A walk along the Seine River from Norte Dame to Champs De Mars followed by a candlelit dinner at a bistro. As long as it has the ambiance and great food I’m happy!’

Clare - Social Media Manager & Proposal Planner Assistant

‘I would start the day with a coffee over FaceTime with my girlfriends, then an afternoon walk and a cosy day at home, cook a lovely dinner with a bottle of wine. The wood-burner is on, candles lit and our latest series on the TV. We celebrate it but its always a chilled one.’

Henry - Proposal Planner Assistant

‘This year I’m spending Valentines with a really good friend of mine, we are heading to The Ned and celebrating our single lives together in STYLE! Great food, a few drinks and some live music! This would also be my ideal date night if I was to celebrate valentines romantically, exploring new spots in the city where there’s live music and a good atmosphere. Any excuse for a dress up!’

Lily - UK Proposal Planner

‘I spend so much time organising dream date nights and marriage proposals that I would love a simple night in where he can take charge of the plans. Our favourite film, a steak for dinner, glass of red and my pyjamas. Phone on silent and chocolate for dessert. Perfect.’

Toby - Proposal Planner Assistant

‘Valentines is always a nice day to celebrate, single or taken. My ideal valentines day has got to be active. I can’t stand the thought of the cinema, I want a nice walk along the Thames with a coffee and see where the day takes us! So my ideal Valentines Day is to not have a plan!’
